Congratulations on a lot of hard work this summer quarter!

Registration tomorrow morning in BE 4185 in the main building at 10am.  Please bring payment by check or credit card.  You have one week to pay or you will be dropped from your classes.  Click on the links that I showed you on yesterday's post and decide what classes that you want to take, and fill out the pink sheet with your possibilities.  Come with your questions to ask the advisors. 

College Bridge Graduation and Top Students - 2pm in the Broadway Performance Hall.  Come clap for Tess and Jane who were both nominated by their instructors as Top Student!  There will be student speakers from Level 6 and a reception with food after the ceremony!  Please come and have a good time!

Party Tomorrow If you want to bring food, please bring it, along with your camera!  Don't worry about bringing a lot.  Just bring enough for everyone to have a small taste.  Our last chance for a class picture of all of you who survived the summer!   I will bring brownies and napkins.  Please make a comment below if you are going to bring food that needs plates. Homework for tonight!

Grammar Express Review for tomorrow's test.  The Self Tests at the end of the Units we studied in class are good reviews: 

• All Verb Tenses
• Modals
• Adjective Clauses
• Adjectives and Adverbs

We didn't study the ones below, but there might be some of them on the test

• Passive Voice -  Please review how to make the passive voice.  What is the difference between passive and active voice!
• Infinitives and Gerunds -  Study the Self Test and try to understand the grammar notes

• Complex Sentences
• Compound Comlex Sentences
• Compound Sentence

Final Blog Post!  Don't forget to post regarding your novel!  If you have lost the instruction sheet, you can check the Blog Assignment List on this page. 

Class Party on Wednesday!  What food do you want to have?  I think we should have International Food!  a little bit from China and Taiwan, a little bit from Viet Nam, a little bit from Japan!  Think about what you might like to bring!

• Opinion - Page 133-35  Do the outline - and first draft on page 135-36 
• Compare and Contrast -  Study Page 153-154  Do exercise A and B in textbook

4 Handouts that Gail gave you at the end of class:

• Page 159 and 161 explains more about Subject and Object patterns for Adjective Clauses  Do Practice A #1, 2, and 3 on the paper.
• Unit 86  Explains more about Relative Clauses.   Read and and Study Units 86 and 87.  Try to do the exercises.  
• Sentence Corrections:  Please try to correct the 4 sentences
• Last Blog post is due on Tuesday.  This is using compare and contrast language, so you can wait until Tuesday, if you want to do this.  If you do this on the weekend, please do the exercises in the Ready to Write textbook before you do it.   Your grammar will be a little better if you do.  :)

Vocabulary Test on Monday is only over your Personal Word Vocabulary Test List,  so study the words that you want to be tested on.

Be sure that you understand the basic differences between a Compound Sentence, a Complex Sentence and a Compound Complex Sentence.  Be sure to write down your questions so that you can ask them in class.  :)

• Read and do the exercises on Pages 127 and 128  You can stop when you get to #2 at the top of page 129.

Ready to Write -  Page 101 -  Choose a topic from the Writing Exercise or something that you know how to do pretty well and make a list of all the steps in the process.  Write a topic sentence.  This is the prewriting.  Bring the steps to class with a topic sentence.
